What is Elemental Chi Kung?

Elemental Chi Kung is more than just an exercise discipline. We change the content of the classes with the seasons and work with the Element for the time of year, based on the Chinese Five Element Theory (wu xing).

Each season has its own pair of internal organs, animal, colour and element. For example Winter is working with the element of water, the kidneys and bladder and the animal is the bear. Many of the forms are related to the movement of animals, connecting the work back to the earliest Chinese shamanic practices.

The primary aim of Chi Kung practice is to enhance the flow of Chi (vital energy) through the body, working within the same framework as acupuncture or shiatsu. It is usually translated as “energy work”.

The movements are generally slow, gentle and flowing, with an emphasis on moving from the centre of the body and are co-ordinated with the breath and visualisation.

A class will generally include joint mobility exercises, standing forms that greatly improve leg strength and balance, meditative walks and seated meditation.

My training in this practice is four years with the College of Elemental Chi Kung in London.

Angela has bags of experience and is great teacher, gentle and clear in her instructions. Highly recommended. Tom Watson

Reiki classes in Leigh on Sea

Elemental Chi Kung and Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by the practitioner laying hands over the client and allowing energy to pass through them to the client. If one’s chi is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

We run regular workshops combining Elemental Chi Kung and Reiki, where participants are attuned to level 1 Reiki energy which can be used on friends, family and pets.

These are held in Leigh on Sea in the Old Town where the fresh sea air is conducive to productive Chi Kung and promoting healing.
